Application Engineer

Kadant Johnson Southeast Asia Pty Ltd. is seeking a talented, motivated individual with solid paper industry technical skills combined with a strong customer service focus to fill a position in applications and sales.  The position will be based in Melbourne.

The Application Engineer will be responsible for sales support of Kadant products in the Australian and New Zealand paper industry.   The selected candidate will promote Kadant products by working closely with customers in identifying problems and opportunities, finding solutions, managing their implementation and providing ongoing service and product support.  The role will include working closely with production and engineering personnel in paper mills, mechanical installation technical supervision, planning and implementing paper machine trials among other activities.

The preferred candidate will possess sound knowledge of paper manufacturing through extensive experience in a paper mill production environment.  The candidate will be skillful at finding solutions through applying strong process and product technical knowledge together with a high level of analytical thinking, will be adept at achieving positive outcomes through a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and will be skillful in using tools in a paper mill to install, align and tune processes and equipment.  Engineering education or mechanical training would be an advantage when combined with sound paper making knowledge and practical experience.

Kadant will provide extensive technical training in our products and their application in the paper industry.  The ability to learn rapidly and absorb new information will be essential.  The successful candidate will be trained to acquire a specialist level of knowledge and skill and will become a valued and essential member of a small and supportive team serving the paper industry in Australia and New Zealand.
