Membership Categories

Individual Member

Individual Members are those who have an interest in the aims and objectives of Appita.

Student member

A non-salaried student enrolled at a recognised post-secondary or tertiary institution and who is interested in the objectives of Appita.

Corporate Company member

A firm or corporation actively engaged in the manufacture of pulp and/or paper and in sympathy with the objectives of Appita.

Sustaining member

An institution, trade or professional association, library, company or similar organisation in the pulp and paper industry, or a related industry or service, which is in sympathy with the objectives of Appita. Three grades of sustaining membership are available, depending on the level of business conducted in the pulp and paper industry.

Fellow member

An Appita Fellow shall be an Individual Member or a Nominated Representative of a Company or a Sustaining Member, who has made a substantial contribution to the industry and/or to Appita, by their service in a position of responsibility or by their experience, and who is so elected by resolution of the Executive Committee.

All applications are considered by the Membership Committee which decides the applicant’s category of membership.

What does Appita membership offer?

Individual members

  • A copy of Appita Journal.
  • Appita's Guide to the Pulp and Paper Industry (reviewed bi annually)
  • Notice of Appita activities, including conferences, career development programs, seminars, meetings etc.
  • Reduced fees for Appita functions and activities, including conferences and career development programs.
  • Monthly Newsletter.
  • Access to publications at a reduced cost.

Corporate members

  • 10% discount on Annual Conference Exhibition space.
  • 20% discount on advertising in Appita Journal.
  • Complimentary listing the Appita website with the option of an advertisment for a nominal fee.
  • Reduced fees for two nominated Corporate Members’ representatives attending Appita conferences, education programs, seminars, meetings etc.

Alternatively: To receive a Membership Application Form, please send your name, address, phone and fax numbers to admin@appita.com with your request. Membership runs from 1 January – 31 December. The full fee is payable on joining, and a pro-rata credit will be made towards the next year’s fee if you join part way through the year.

* The three sustaining membership categories are:

  1. Established suppliers, including large consultants; wood chip manufacturers; large private or government forestry operators; other significant local organisations directly involved in the industry; pulp and paper manufacturers in other countries.
  2. Suppliers, including consultants whose involvement is relatively small. Customers of the pulp and paper industry eg. printers and converters.
  3. Organisations who have no commercial or direct technical involvement in the Australian or New Zealand pulp and paper industry but who are interested in the objectives of Appita.
